Zionist Union co-leader Isaac Herzog on Saturday accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of evading responsibility for events at his residences, following the state comptroller’s report last week that criticized Netanyahu for excessive spending at his two homes.

Netanyahu “blames the media, his housekeeper and previous governments for everything,” said Herzog, speaking at a rally in Tel Aviv. “Opinion polls indicate a clear gap of two Knesset seats or more between us,” he added. “The more Netanyahu drops in the polls, the more he invents lies, looking for new victims.
“This time he’s lashing out at the state comptroller, but it won’t help. The report on public housing will expose a resounding failure and neglect of the public’s needs. Bibi, you’ve failed, go home!” said Herzog.
Amos Yadlin, the Zionist Union candidate for defense minister, attacked Netanyahu over security issues.
“Netanyahu is not Mr. Security. He has failed to deliver security,” said Yadlin.
“After six years with Netanyahu at the helm, Iran is closer than ever to acquiring a nuclear weapon,” he added. “Relations with the United States, a mainstay of Israel’s national security, have been severely damaged, and we urgently need to rehabilitate them.
“Netanyahu is weak not only against Iran but Hamas as well. Fifty days of rockets attacks, tunnels under settlements on the Gaza border – this is the man who wrote books about not capitulating to terror, yet released hundreds of murderers with blood on their hands,” said Yadlin.
