A porn star is causing a bit more of a sensation than she might otherwise – simply because she's from Lebanon.

Mia Khalifa, 21, was born in Lebanon, moved to Maryland and now is based in Miami, Florida, media reports say.

Reports say she has become the top draw on the website PornHub. But given her home country, many conservatives in the Arab World are, well, exercised about her prominence.

She's received death threats. On her Twitter page, @abdallahbakrr wrote, "ur head will be cut soon inshallah."

And @tumezey writes that "am a Palestinian patriot and what you are doing is shameful." To which Khalifa replied, "Aren't you not supposed to be on my page? Haram. [Sinful.]"

And at this writing her Facebook page has more than 24,000 likes.

Her response to the brouhaha, in a tweet: "Doesn't the Middle East have more important things to worry about besides me? How about finding a president? Or containing Isis?"
