Anti-Semitic slogans were chanted on Thursday at an anti-Israel protest in Berlin, held following the attacks in the Gaza Strip. The protesters, who waved Palestinian flags, yelled, "Jews, Jews, cowardly pigs, come out and fight!"

The American Jewish Committee in Berlin filed a police report and called on the German parliament to protect the Jewish residents of the city. Deidre Berger, director of the organization's Berlin office, said German police must crack down on these threats "to show that anti-Semitism has no place in our society.

Slogans such as those chanted at Thursday's demonstration are illegal in Germany.

On Wednesday, Palestinians, Israelis and Germans took part in another Berlin rally against Israel's military operation in Gaza. One of the organizers was Israeli author Mati Shmoelof, who wrote on Facebook: "We, the people are frustrated and outraged about another sequel of Gaza bombings." Demonstrators held signs in English, Arabic, German and Hebrew, reading "We refuse to be enemies" and "Stop the slaughter in Gaza."

Similar protests also took place in other German cities such as Frankfurt, Kassel and Bremen. Another rally is scheduled for Saturday in Berlin.

Earlier this week, anti-Israel protesters clashed with police outside a Paris synagogue. Some carried signs reading "Gaza is a concentration camp" and called out "Death to Jews" and "Hitler was right."

Since the beginning of Israel's Operation Protective Edge, anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic graffiti has been sprayed in several European cities.
