A Druze man from the town of Mghrar in the Galilee, who has been jailed seven times for refusing to be drafted, was hospitalized Friday with a severe liver infection.
Omar Sa’ad, who was first arrested in 2012, had been due to be released in a few days from his latest prison term when he became sick, according to his father, Adin Sa’ad.
Sa’ad said his son’s liver had almost failed because the army delayed hospitalizing him but that his condition has now stabilized.
A rally for his release was to be held last night in his hometown, on Facebook and opposite Bnai Zion Hospital in Haifa, where he is being held under guard.
