Golan told Keshet that his decision to suspend himself from the talent show was made in light of an ongoing "police investigation into a sensitive matter." Keshet did not state the reason for the decision.
Keshet also announced that it would be suspending the production of the next season of the famous singer's own talent scouting show, "Eyal Golan is Calling You."
Keshet announced the decision in a press release, which read:
"In light of recent developments and in line with Keshet policy, we are suspending the participation of Eyal Golan as a judge on the show 'Rising Star.' At the same time we are suspending production on the next season of the show 'Eyal Golan is Calling You.' The decision was made in coordination with Eyal Golan and his managers."
Golan said Wednesday, "I trust Israel Police will quickly clarify the suspicions against me and bring an end to the affair."
A gag order was lifted Wednesday morning on some details of an underage sex scandal that has been taking Israel by storm, revealing that Golan is the singer at the center of the saga.
Golan was taken to Tel Aviv District's central unit Wednesday morning, where he was questioned on suspicions that he had sexual relations with minors.
Golan's line of defense throughout the entire affair has been that he did not know at any point in time that the girls were minors.
