WATCH: Israeli Leaders Celebrate Fourth of July With U.S. Ambassador
PM Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres expected to attend Independence Day festivities at U.S. ambassador's beachfront residence.
The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Daniel Shapiro, and his wife, Julie Fisher, are hosting a good old-fashioned Fourth of July picnic at their beachfront residence in Herzliya Pituach on Thursday evening. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres are expected to attend, along with other members of the political and military elite.

On Thursday afternoon, the embassy’s Facebook page featured photos of the house’s expansive backyard decorated in red, white and blue bunting and balloons. As in years past, the menu will be all-American: McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Subway and Coca-Cola.
An ensemble from the Israeli Conservatory of Music will perform, as will U.S. military band Winds Aloft. A fireworks display over the Mediterranean Sea will bring the evening to a close.
