Golan Telecom triggers cellular price war
After upstart mobile service provider Golan Telecom last week launched a promotion for two months’ free unlimited cellular service for new customers if they sign up by the end of this month, its competitors have responded with their own promotions. Pelephone and YouPhone matched the offer with their own offer of two months free. Hot Mobile reintroduced a different deal, which doesn’t provide two months free but instead offers the first four months of unlimited service at NIS 49 per month. The 012 Mobile division of Partner Communications entered the fray with the first six months of unlimited service at NIS 59 per month. After the promotional periods are up, all of the companies will charge NIS 98 or NIS 99 per month, except for YouPhone, which has a NIS 79 monthly rate. (Amitai Ziv)
Andorn set to get cabinet nod as ministry boss
Yael Andorn is on Sunday expected to get the cabinet’s nod as the next director general of the Finance Ministry, a position for which she was tapped by Finance Minister Yair Lapid. The appointment of ministry directors general does not require a public tender. Andorn, 42, who in recent years headed a group of Histadrut labor federation pension funds, is a former official in the Finance Ministry’s budget division. Her nomination as director general was approved by a Civil Service Commission committee last week. (Moti Bassok)
