Despite threats to halt the direct talks with Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government decides to renew construction in the West Bank, the Palestinian leadership is continuing to stutter. Its pointless bluffs don't impress anyone. On the contrary, they merely spur on the United States to make far-reaching promises to Israel so that it will be kind enough to agree to renew the freeze for another two months, and no one asks what will happen when that time is up.
