The file on the shocking murder-suicide of a British-born cop and his family was finally closed last week. In October of 2008, a dispute over taking a 3-year-old to class ended in the murder of the child, his mother, Hila Bachar, and the child's 3-month-old sister. They were all shot to death by Bachar's husband, Michael Fisher, who then committed suicide at their Hod Hasharon home. Fisher was a policeman.

The police investigation into the case ended a short time after the crime and the investigation file was sent to the prosecutor's office in November last year, but it was only last week that the district attorney, Rachel Shiber, closed the file.

The investigation included the possibility of marital infidelity on the part of Fisher, but that was discounted. In addition police discounted rumors that circulated after the incident that the children were not Fisher's biological offspring.

"It's a terrible murder that took place because of a trivial dispute, and that is what is most frustrating about this story," a senior police source who knew the couple said yesterday.
