A Tel Aviv District Court panel on Thursday unanimously convicted actor Hanan Goldblatt of rape, sodomy and sexual assault of his drama students, while some of them were still legally minor.

Goldblatt was put under house arrest after his indictment in 2005. It originally included testimonies of six complainants, and the court, in an unusual injunction, accepted the request of the prosecution to include another four testimonies, whose prescriptive periods have expired, to support allegations of a behavior pattern.

A witness told Haaretz that "this man, whose name I can't even utter, stole my soul for a few years, and took over my body at a time I was still exploring it. He invaded my most precious places."

The sentence said that there is a convincing similarity between the different acts for which Goldblatt was convicted, and that even though the witnesses testified years after the events, the court still found them reliable.

Outside the courtroom, a clash erupted between a complainant and Goldblatt's friends. They called her a liar, and she in turn shouted at them: "He raped me."

The veteran actor Shaike Levi said after the sentence: "Injustice has been done. Let's hope he'll be strong. I'm sure he will appeal and fight for his innocence."
