The Knesset Ethics Committee severely reprimanded MK Esterina Tartman (Yisrael Beiteinu) yesterday for falsely claiming she had a Master's degree, as was revealed last month.

The committee reviewed complaints by both the Movement for Quality Government and MK Ran Cohen (Meretz) over the affair.

The committee rejected Tartman's claims that she had been sufficiently punished in the public arena, and issued the harshest punishment reserved for the committee.

"The actions of MK Tartman have seriously damaged the dignity of the Knesset," the committee ruled, adding that the false claims were made deliberately, and not inadvertently, as Tartman has claimed.

Tartman went for medical tests yesterday at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem after feeling ill.

Labor MK Yoram Marciano, who is being investigated for allegedly striking a security guard at a Herzliya nightclub last month, also required medical attention yesterday after feeling ill.
