Car Explodes in Bat Yam; Police Suspect Criminal Attack
Bomb attack was likely a case of mistaken identity as car owner has no underworld connections.
A bomb exploded in a car belonging to a Bat Yam physician on Thursday morning.
There were no casualties and police believe the blast was related to an underworld dispute. They suspect the physician's car was misidentified by whomever planted the bomb.
The bomb was detonated at 8:45 A.M. on Ginosar Street in Bat Yam.
Police and firefighters arrived on the scene and found the Daihatsu engulfed in a raging inferno and almost completely destroyed by the blast.
Police do now know who might have sought to harm the doctor and a preliminary investigation revealed he has no ties to underworld figures and is not involved in any disputes.
Officers unsuccessfully attempted to determined whether an individual known to police lived in the same apartment building as the doctor.
