Dynamo Moscow downed Aris Thessalonika 73-60 in the ULEB Cup final in Charleroi, Belgium last night. The victory gives Dynamo its first-ever European trophy.

While Aris dominated the stands with an overwhelming majority of the Greek fans, Dynamo was in charge of the game on the court.

Ruben Douglas and Bojan Popovic each scored 17 points for Dynamo. Playing for the first time since a January injury, Popovic made 12 of 12 free throws, a new final record. Lazaros Papadopoulos, who helped the team beat Hapoel Jerusalem in the semifinals, overcame a slow start to record 12 points and 12 rebounds. Dynamo outrebounded Aris 46-29.

Terrel Castle led Aris with 17 points, while Ryan Stack and Giorgios Sigalas scored 10 each.

Dynamo coach Dusan Ivkovic, who coached Aris in the early 1980s, earned his fifth continental club trophy with the win.

Papadopoulos and teammate Antonios Fotsis become the first players to win both the Euroleague and ULEB Cup titles, with both having played on Panathinaikos in 2002.
