Upper Nazareth got its Premeir League campaign off to a winning start yesterday with a 2-1 victory over Ashdod SC in the final game of the season's opening round.
All three of the game's goals were scored from the penalty spot. Slovenia international midfielder Simon Seslar put Nazareth ahead at 16 minutes after Ernest Etechi fouled Mislav Krogolan, before Shai Holzman evened the game for Ashdod from the same spot after being brought down by Micha Pitmac.
Seslar wrapped up the game up for Upper Nazareth at 57 minutes, with Etechi once again being the culprit when he brought down Itai Shecter. Seslar, who flew to Slovenia after the game to report for World Cup duty against Norway, said the win would give Upper Nazareth a lot of confidence in the upcoming season.
"We've been under a lot of pressure for the past three weeks, because the things we have been working on haven't really yet come together. But we have opened with a victory and received a lot of confidence," Seslar said.
