Rubinstein Backs IDF's Policy of Targeted Killings'
Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein supports the defense establishment's policy of assassinating senior members of Palestinian terror groups as part of its campaign to thwart terror attacks.
Speaking at the annual conference of the Law and Society Forum at Kibbutz Ma'aleh Hahamisha, the attorney general added that the term "liquidations" damages Israel's image and it is better to use the phrase "targeted killings" to describe the policy. The hits are carried out according to detailed orders, published by the military prosecutor's office and are in accordance with international law, Rubinstein said.
"There are cases where terror attacks must be thwarted through a targeted hit on such an enemy, assuming of course that it is carried out according to the legal guidelines," he said.
