Four Israeli TV Shows Up for Awards at Rose d'Or Global Television Festival

Prominent television festival releases list of 36 nominees.

Four Israeli television shows are among the nominees at this year's Rose d'Or - The Global Entertainment Television Festival. The list of 36 nominees was released yesterday.

The Israeli nominees are "Mehubarot" ("Connected" in English), "La'uf al Hamilion" ("Who's Still Standing?"), "Gavoha Vegreenbaum" ("Tall and Greenbaum" ), and "Makom Ledeaga" ("The Saddest Sketch Show in the World"). The latter was also nominated in 2008.

The panel of 50 judges who chose the nominees included one Israeli - Omri Marcus of Europe's second-largest media group, ProSiebenSat.1's Red Arrow Entertainment Group. Some 400 programs were submitted to the panel.

The ceremony is to be held in May in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Rose D'or, founded in 1961, is one of the world's most important television festivals. Festival director Markus Helbling said: "I'm thrilled to see 36 outstanding programs in the running for a Golden Rose. Each of these productions was chosen for its quality and creativity, guaranteeing an exciting finale and thoroughly deserving winners at the festival in Lucerne."

"Connected" is produced by Armoza Formats and broadcast by cable TV company HOT; and "Who's Still Standing?" by July August Productions is screened on Channel 10. "Tall and Greenbaum" is by Matar Productions and is shown on Channel 2's Keshet franchisee; and "The Saddest Sketch Show in the World" by Matar Productions is broadcast on Channel 10.

More than 40 countries participated in this year's competition. Sixteen of the nominated shows come from the United Kingdom, three each come from Canada and Germany, two each from Holland and Norway, and one each from the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Spain and South Korea.

Awards will be presented in 12 categories including comedy, sitcom, game show, children's TV, arts documentary, factual and lifestyle show. One of the category winners will be named the overall best of 2012.
