Maccabi Tel Aviv traveled to Moscow without its legendary chairman, Shimon Mizrahi, who for the first time in decades did not accompany the team due to medical tests.
Mizrahi has been the chairman of Maccabi Tel Aviv since 1969 and much of its success has been accredited to his shrewd management. In addition to his position at Maccabi he practices law and is the head of a successful lawfirm.
Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Effi Birenboim said yesterday: "Shimon Mizrahi will come back as soon as possible. I will speak to him [Mizrahi] soon and wish him all the best."
