The chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Mishael Cheshin, yesterday rejected a request by the women's lobby to stop campaign broadcasts by the Man's Rights in the Family party, explaining that he was not authorized to take this action.
The director of the women's lobby, Ela Gera, argued in a letter to Judge Cheshin that the Man's Rights in the Family party's broadcasts contain incitement and violence against women and misrepresent the facts. The judge noted that despite his "empathy" for women in distress, he has very little authority over the content of campaign broadcasts.
