Maccabi Tel Aviv has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with Greek forward Nestor Kommatos, 27.
Kommatos, who played last season for Aris Thessaloniki and was the leading scorer in the Greek league with 21.5 points a game, will replace David Bluthenthal, who quit Maccabi to try his luck on a short-term contract with the Sacramento Kings.
The 2.03-meter forward is expected to earn some $450,000 a season. He will be Maccabi's third Bosman after Sarunas Jasikevicius and Nikola Vujcic, meaning that in league games, Maccabi will have to rest one of its foreign players.
"I was the leading player in Greece, now I want a shot at a higher level," Kommatos said yesterday.
