Joey’s Lobos swept a doubleheader, while Camp Shalom crumbled in its first week atop the Myra Kraft Division in AFI touch football last Saturday night.

Joey’s Lobos earned the last of their four victories in near-miraculous fashion. Down six to Jerry’s Kids with 20 seconds left, the Lobos were gifted a first and goal at the half yard line after Jerry’s Kids’ punter botched a punt near the end zone.

Star quarterback Yisrael Feld hit veteran tight end Rabbi Jason Allen for the game-tying score, then nailed the extra point to secure the unlikely 19-18 victory.

Elsewhere, first-place Camp Shalom lost to Team Our Place 7-6 and then tied 12-12, tightening the race in the Myra Kraft Division. Now only four points separate places five through 11, with much at stake in the season's final few weeks. Several teams made their moves this week; Ashreinu, CCJ, Frisch and the TC Hedgehogs all won two games to further improve their seeding.

The other big news of the week happened in the Max Steinberg Division, as the defending champ Briut Modi’in Thundermuffins were handed their first loss, 13-6 to DEC. In the Ezra Schwartz division, the Tzionim kept their slim lead as they and TYA shut out the Kanfei Eagles and the No Names, respectively.

Several other teams posted dominant efforts as well the Café Rimon Nachhorns slaughtered Ashkenazy Acquisitions Corp, Philip L. Stein & Associates didn’t allow the Killer B’s past midfield, and MMJ defeated the Bruschis twice.
