Flight delays are expected at Ben-Gurion Airport on Wednesday night due to a military exercise, Haaretz has learned.

The delays, which are likely to last until 11 P.M., will affect El Al, British Airways, Israir, Transavia, EasyJet and Wizz Air flights.

They include El Al flights to Lisbon, Berlin, Paris, Prague, Bucharest, Milan, Johannesburg and Hong Kong, British Airways to London, Israir to Burgos, Transavia to Lyons, EasyJet to London and Wizz Air flights to Budapest, Vilna and Katowice.

Most of the earlier flights that were affected had taken off by 6:30 P.M., including El Al to Vienna, New York, Larnaca and Amsterdam, Turkish Airways and Pegasus to Istanbul, Brussels Airlines to Brussels and Lufthansa to Frankfurt.

"Due to flight congestion and an Israel Air Force exercise affecting the Cypriot air space, 16 flights have been delayed as of 7:30 P.M.," the Israel Airports Authority said in a statement.

"Following a request by the authority, the Air Force has agreed to implement changes in the exercise so as not to impact civilian air travel.
