The Israel Police's sexual-harassment scandal remained in the spotlight on Wednesday, as yet another senior officer was questioned under caution about inappropriate approaches to and relations with female officers under his command.

In the latest case, several women officers a few weeks ago filed complaints against the officer, testifying that he had harassed them.

The police's investigative division opened an inquiry into the claims and spoke with several of the women who filed the complaints. And on Wednesday the investigators summoned the officer and sharply questioned him about the allegations.

Over a year and a half, several high-ranking officers have resigned or been questioned in connection with allegations that they sexually harassed women subordinates. A number of them are major-generals, a rank just below the commissioner.

Last week, reports said the police were looking into whether Deputy Police Commissioner Nissim Mor assaulted and harassed a woman who'd joined the police force only a few months earlier.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently weighed in on the matter, lauding the police for thoroughly investigating the women offiicers' claims and suggesting that a proper response might be to appoijnt a woman as police commissioner.

Uri Carmel, who heads the Justice Ministry department that investigates police misconduct, recently said that every commander is now on notice that failure to deal with complaints of sexual harassment will end his chances of advancing within the Israel Police.
