Despite more wet weekend weather, local women bowlers managed to play the second round of the National Fives at the Ramat Gan club. For the men, who were scheduled to start the first round of their equivalent "Wingate Fives" at Netanya, it was disappointment when more rain prevented any play on Saturday.
At Ramat Gan, Kiryat Ono showed improved form when they won all of their three games against Netanya. In the pairs, Ruthie Gilor with Esthi Yogev outplayed Naomi Fletcher and Juliette Jackson to win 30-8, while in the singles, Gilor also had a comfortable 21-5 win against Bernice Pillemer.
The Netanya trio of Dolores Linde, Pam Bobrov and Laureen Harris had the opportunity for a win when they led 11-7 at the 11th head against Maya Van Creveld, Miriam Cohen and Ayana Steinfeld, but a disastrous six in the next end put Kiryat Ono sufficiently ahead to win 14-12 in a shortened 14-head game because of rain.
Ramat Hasharon did extremely well against Ra'anana when they won the trips and the singles and peeled the pairs. In the latter game, Lorraine Couzin with Margie Goss were up against Arlene
