Saved From Anonymity

The Haaretz obituaries writer read about an elderly mother and her disabled daughter who died recently in a fire, and decided to investigate who the reclusive women were.

Nurit Weiskopf suffered from a severe disability in her legs, which left her confined to a wheelchair. She rarely left her home and, to her dying day, was dependent on her elderly mother Haya, who took care of her. Two weeks ago, on February 18, both died in a fire that broke out in the middle of the night in their fourth-floor apartment on Arlosoroff Street in Tel Aviv.
