Rabinovitch has few delusions about the nature of Israel's neighbours or their worth in living up to their commitments made as part of peace agreements that would obligate Israel ceding territories conquered the very same belligerent regimes who remain unchanged with the efflux of time, yet he insists that Israel should plough on and conclude peace treaties with them and further looks down upon attempts by other Israelis who feel that it is their moral obligation to settle in the territories won in hard fought wars.This more than anything else epitomises the disconnect between the predominantly leftist intelligentsia and the vast majority of Israel's population which would prefer to firmly plant their actions on the bedrock of reality, Thankfully, we have not evolved a system wherein "intellectuals' alone get to decide on the running of things.
