Did a skeleton discovered in an ancient cave belong to a powerful fighter and leader? A delicately built shaman? Experts differ, but meanwhile, a new TV series literally put a face to the person.
Six-thousand years ago, a man was buried in a cave in what is today known as Wadi el-Makkukh, near Jericho. In 1993, archaeologists found the skeleton, wrapped in an ancient shroud, next to an impressive array of objects that included a bow, arrows, a knife, a wooden bowl and sandals.
