In my opinion, this article only went half way - it covered the conflict between the British and the IRA but failed to make any comparisons between the current conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians. We (I'm an Israeli) both use brutal tactics in order to achieve our aims - the Palestinians with bombings and rockets and Israelis with expropriating Palestinian land for settlements (despite the Levy report's efforts at obfuscation, all the land the settlements are located on is occupied territory as the entire world - save Israel - acknowledges) and forcing the Arab population to prostrate themselves to their Jewish "masters", as the settlers surely think they are (read the discusting article in Friday's Haaretz about Har Adar if you doubt this). My point is that the British and the IRA did - after much bloodshead - finally resolve their problem...will we be so fortunate?

We all have lessons to learn from this. We can't change what happened but we can change our future. We can also learn to listen to the other side and try to understand their narrative.
