"her head is lovely?" LOVELY?? what makes her head "lovely," as opposed to any other child's head? and what does the "loveliness" of her head make this image any more relevant? talk about clueless..

Cease your circle jerking. This photo and all photos related to it were staged. There's a Youtube video showing this exact same little girl being positioned and given directions by her parents/adult supervisors on how to act and what to say to these soldiers.

The Arabs keep on staging and the Left keeps on writing.

The soldier is demonstrating to the girl the proper way to respond when someone says, "Give me five!" In the next photo (how come it's not shown?), she has her hand open and all fingers raised.

You can't be a Jew unless you have enemies. If you have no enemies you must make some. The Jews are in the process of turning the American people into enemies.

There is a full video of this girl trying to provoke the soldier and others into action at the instigation of Arab adults who at times even push her and several other children towards and even into the soldiers. At one point one of the girls even grabs the scope on a soldier's rifle; he just calmly brushes her hand off. The most telling part of the full video is the beginning though, when she is standing quietly by the soldier, looking around, waiting for the camera to get closer, and then she suddenly raises her fist and starts yelling.

sorry to take the mystique away, but there's a viral video of this whole encounter, and it shows several children determinedly shoving and screaming at the soldiers as part of an obvious attempt to provoke them. Some of the children even shove other children at the soldiers. Seeing the video and then reading this article, its easy to see how contrived and foolish any deep thoughts about this incident would have to be.

I believe it is LONG OVERDUE for Israel to COMPROMISE and have just one ounce of EMPATHY for the Palestinian situation. Remember... at the end of WW2 it was the Jews who did NOT have ANY official HOMELAND...To wish this upon the Palestinian's is straight up SADISTIC, and an insult to the memory of the Holocaust victims. Is it possible to criticize Israeli policy without being labelled ANTI_SEMITIC or a SELF_HATING_JEW ? Is this actually possible ???

Surely you jest. Israeli soldiers put Palestinian children in harms way every day. It's called "Occupation".

That is what the photo represents, a kind soldier and a young girl put in harms way by her family but being protected by calm and strength of kindness of a a soldier. What is not known is the cuss if this juxtaposition but there is not a fear of bad outcome of either party.

I feel a mixture of sadness and fury, but also one of pride and quiet determination. Sadness about the harshness of a Palestinian childhood in the occupied territories or in the refugee camps. But I am also proud of this brave Palestinian girl. It gives me confidence for the future. The will to resist cannot be killed. After all who will NOT fight if others try to steal your land and water and expel you????
