Winter on Saladin Street
The last grapes, the first strawberries, a sweet rosetta and bitter coffee. It’s the nicest time of year to roam the central artery of East Jerusalem.
The route begins at Damascus Gate. You park your car in front of the jagged minaret shapes that top the lofty stone gate. Then check which food carts are standing in the square in front of it or under the protection of its walls and huge crown. In East Jerusalem, as in other food centers all over the world, you can see all sorts of food carts at different hours of the day.
