All the alcohol in the world won’t turn Eilat into Paris, but drinking wine at shop prices, in good company and at all hours help blur the differences.
Friday, 10 A.M., a wine and liquor store in the Eilat industrial zone. On the table, a full ice bucket, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin champagne, and three long-stemmed glasses. We had survived another flight, and it was time to celebrate the miracle – for those with fear of flying, every flight is a genuine wonder – with the help of a cheering drink.
