Inspirational!!!

They are less than 20,000 Reform Jews in Israel out of 6 millions, most of them US Olim. Reform Judaism can have meaning for Jews in the USA, not in Israel. Israelis can feel Jews without feeling the change of inventing a new religion. They speak Hebrew, live in the land of Israel, know their culture and history and respect the traditions. No need for a fake American religion.

I am a lapsed Jew but this good man gives me cause for optimism for "The Tribe". The concept of the "other" as the enemy is the oldest scam/religion in human history and at one time was vital to a group's survival. Times have changed and those nations that do not let go of their notions of being exceptional will be the source of problems for everyone else in their neighborhoods as is the case in the current ME.

I live in Oakland California and want Israelis to understand that it is possible to be Jewish, secular, and have a satisfying Jewish spiritual life. I attend two synagogues Chochmat Halev and Kehilla Community synagogue that are part of the renewal stream about celebrating Judaism in dance, music, and religious tradition and spirituality. Yet it includes a recognition and place for critical reflection and Tikkun olam. I'm multiracial. Jewish, German, Russian, African American and Latino and feel at home in the inclusiveness of these congregations. I can only hope that Orthodoxy ceases it's grip on Israeli society as the only keeper of Judaism which is as the director mentions historically inaccurate anyway. Shana Tova from California, Avi
