For more than a month Haaretz followed the collectors of scrap metal, empty bottles and other waste. Here are their stories.
Ilanit pushes a large blue paper-recycling bin down the middle of the street. Cars honk at her in desperation, until she finally moves indifferently aside. “It’s better than a car,” she laughs. “It doesn’t guzzle gas and it drives beautifully. What more do you need?”
