I hope for Germany Habermas isn't their "most important" (please do not use such terms next time, we're not on Arutz2) thinker.

The Lving Thinker Monument

Habermas may be the most important living German philosopher, a fact that shows the scarcity of thinkers in Germany, but his influence on society, politics and practical, living democracy and social movements never really left the seminary rooms. As one who knows well his work and teaching activity since 1972 in Frankfurt, I recognize his great merit in creating generation after generation of back room philosophers and opportunistic public service careerists.
