When you awake from your summer siesta, there’s nothing like short-crust cookies dipped in a cup of tea or a glass of refreshing yogurt.

Air conditioners have killed the summer. It’s no longer too hot, and there’s no excuse for a rest between 2 and 4 P.M., or for closing the office on Tuesday afternoon to spend time with the family. You can’t walk around in an undershirt on the balcony in the evening with a bowl of salad in hand, because of the noise of the compressors and the constant hubbub on the street.
