Within days of its creation, the War Room was praised by both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres for delivering a shot of young energy to Israel's traditional PR efforts.
It was 11:30 P.M., in the middle of Operation Pillar of Defense, and the grassy campus of the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya was dark and quiet. The exception: one brightly lit room, where 40 or so caffeine-fueled university students bent intensely over their computers, while overhead, two large plasma screens broadcast 24-hour news.
