It has been 15 games since the beginning of the volleyball season and it's starting to look very much like last season.
Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Hod Hasharon are battling for the championship as Hapoel Mate Asher - which had led the league initially - dropped to third following two consecutive defeats. While Mate Asher put up a fight against Hod Hasharon last week, they capitulated without a fight to Maccabi Tel Aviv this round.
Last year's champions Hod Hasharon struggled to beat its municipal neighbors, Kfar Sava in a grueling 5-set match (25-12, 18-15, 12-19, 25-25 and 25-21). Hapoel Hamaapil and Ironi Kiryat Ata also boasted victories.
The women's league will be decided today (16:30) when Kiryat Ata hosts V.C. Ra'anana in the fifth round of a five-game series. Until now, both teams have won only at home in the series, giving the local team an advantage. Kiryat Ata have won eight titles in nine seasons.
