White House press secretary Sean Spicer issued a statement on Monday saying that U.S. President Donald Trump "continues to be deeply disappointed and concerned by the reports of further vandalism at Jewish cemeteries." The statement followed news of widespread vandalism on Saturday night of another Jewish cemetery in the United States, this time in the Mt. Carmel cemetery in Philadelphia,
The Philadelphia cemetery vandalism follows a similar incident just days earlier at a Jewish cemetery in St. Louis. Monday also saw a fifth wave of bomb threats against Jewish schools, Jewish community center and other Jewish institutions.
"From our country's founding, we've been dedicated to our citizens' rights to worship," Spicer said at Monday's briefing, adding that "no one in America should feel afraid to follow the religion of their choosing freely and openly.”
