Once again the European body was put to the test this week. As in a previous occasion, the European Bowls Union stood firm in its principles when it turned down another invitation from Malaysia, which has imposed restrictions on the Israeli players.
At a meeting during the week of representatives of the participating countries, Israel's Zvika Hadar was unanimously appointed as junior vice president of the union, according honor to Israel's lawn bowling community and to the entire country.
The appointment also represents a further declaration by an international sporting body of impartiality, and of not allowing discrimination within its ranks for any reason whatsoever.
