Three days of culture all over Israel, at a price you can afford
Thousands of local artists, actors, creative artists and writers are taking part in Culture Days.
Winter is full of action-packed days that not only keep you out of the cold, but introduce you to Israeli culture: Thousands of local artists, actors, creative artists and writers are taking part in the Culture Days project – which will include 400 performances in 120 communities all over the country, in the course of three days (25־27 December).
The new project is also coming with an affordable price: a maximum of only 20 shekels ($5.70) per ticket.
Since the shows are being held all over Israel, this is a wonderful opportunity to combine a trip to a new destination with a cultural performance. The full list of shows can be found on the website: culturedays.pais.co (the information on the site is in Hebrew only).
Anyone looking for musical performances can watch the 21st century jazz performance scheduled for December 25 at 9:30 P.M. at the Yellow Submarine, 13 Harechavim Street, Jerusalem. The performance will include performances by artists including CRuNCH 22, a trio of musicians who create psychedelic grooves, and Lucille, the international hip-hop-punk ensemble.
Another interesting musical performance is the dress rehearsal of Mozart’s opera “Abduction from the Seraglio”, performed by the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, scheduled for December 27 at 10 A.M., at the Haifa Auditorium, 138 Hanasi Boulevard.
If dance is your thing, there is the energetic Gypsy-inspired performance Raices, by the Ramengar Flamenco Company (December 26, 8:30 P.M., Avni Auditorium in Ein Gedi, in the Tamar Regional Council); or the performance YouMake ReMake by Renana Raz, which combines dance and staged reactions to YouTube video clips (December 25 at 8:30 P.M., the Ashdod Performing Arts Center, 1 Derekh Eretz Street). There will also be theater events in Arabic, Israeli films, meetings with writers, special events for children and activities at many museums.
If you prefer to stick to the Tel Aviv –Jaffa area, there are plenty of events, including the Yiddish play “Dzigan and Schumacher Forever” at the Yiddishspiel Theater (December 25, 8 P.M. at the ZOA House); the intimate flamenco performance Tablao Flamenco, with a singer, guitar player and flamenco dancer (December 26, 8 P.M., Beit Haam in Netiv Ha’asara); and a performance by Almograbia, the Andalusian Orchestra from Ma’alot-Tarshiha, which will play a tribute to Enrico Macias (December 12, 9 P.M., at the Tel Aviv Performance Arts and Center).
