A ceremony took place on Thursday at Ben-Gurion Airport to unveil the El Al airplane that will be flying Pope Francis and his entourage out of Israel upon completion of his Holy Land visit.

The Boeing 777, which has been specially outfitted for the Pope's needs, has been branded with the Vatican's official logo.

The ceremony was attended by Vatican ambassador in Israel Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto and and El Al CEO David Maimon.

Flight LY514 will depart Ben-Gurion Airport next Thursday May 26 in the evening.

The Argentine Jesuit leaves Saturday for a three-day visit to the Holy Land, where he will meet with Syrian and Palestinian refugees, the Jordanian, Israeli and Palestinian leaders and the chief rabbis of Israel and the mufti of Jerusalem.

The main reason for the visit is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the meeting between Pope Paul VI and the spiritual leader of the world's Orthodox Christians.
