Three people were killed yesterday in a collision between a passenger car and a truck in the Gush Etzion settlement bloc in the West Bank. Among the dead were Rabbi Uri Dasberg from Alon Shvut and Yoheved Altshul of Elazar, along with another woman whose name had not been released. The Palestinian driver of the truck was injured and taken to a hospital.
The accident occurred near the settlement of Neveh Daniel, apparently when the car crossed the centerline and hit the truck head-on.
Dasberg was a well-known figure among West Bank settlement communities and edited a number of religious publications. His daughter and son-in-law were murdered in 1996 in a shooting attack. Altshul, 50, immigrated from the former Soviet Union almost 20 years ago.
