Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich failed overnight Sunday to claim their first title of the 2007 season, losing 6-4, 6-4 to the fifth-seeded Czech-Indian duo of Martin Damm and Leander Paes in the finals of the Pacific Life Open men's doubles at Indian Wells.
Damm-Paes captured their second ATP title of the season in their third final, having won the title in Rotterdam and reached the final in Doha. Since teaming up last year, they are 4-2 in finals.
Erlich and Ram, seeded sixth for the tournament, were playing in their second straight final after finishing as runners-up in Las Vegas.
The Israelis were appearing in their third ATP Masters Series final after finishing runner-up last year in Rome and in Montreal two years ago.
Damm and Paes converted two of six break points while saving all five break points they faced in the one-hour, 27-minute final.
Ram and Erlich advance to sixth in the world doubles rankings.
Shahar Peer, who reached the quarterfinals in the women's singles, stays 16th in the WTA rankings.
Anna Smashnova drops to 86, while Tzipi Obziler stays at 97.
