Avinoam Braverman, who is suspected of sexually assaulting several underage girls and having online sex with many others, lives on Einstein Street in Tel Aviv's Ramat Aviv neighborhood. An acquaintance described him yesterday as an unemployed computer buff whose main activity is developing brain-teasers and computer programs.
Braverman, he said, is an introverted person, "a geek, a computer genius who lives in a world of his own."
The suspect grew up in South Africa and immigrated to Israel after applying to join the Israel Defense Forces. His family followed him here.
He served in a secret computer unit attached to the communications corps, and stayed on for another two years as a career soldier.
His mother, Ella, lives in Kfar Sava and works in a high-tech company. His father lives overseas.
His mother came to the Rishon Letzion Magistrate's Court for his remand hearing. However, Braverman did not even look at her.
