The government appealed to the National Labor Court yesterday, asking it to forbid the Secondary School Teachers Association from striking as the school year begins next week. The organization says it plans to strike over what it calls a dead end in talks on salaries and work conditions.
In addition to asking the court to block labor sanctions, the finance and education ministries requested an urgent hearing date.
"In light of the willingness to compromise with the organization, its obstinance is particularly evident," they stated in their appeal. Official in talks with the teachers have shown flexibility, the appeal said, and the organization should also show flexibility.
