Yesterday afternoon, a young person arrived at Ichilov Hospital asking to talk with the family of Avi Cohen, the former soccer star who was critically injured in a road accident in Ramat Gan and is now in a coma. According to the youth, he had a similar accident, underwent an operation and eventually came out of his coma, returning to a normal life.
It was the only moment yesterday in which the mood of the Cohen family improved. Doctors told his relatives that Cohen's condition remains critical. "I don't want to hear what they have to say anymore," said Dorit Cohen, his wife. "I'm not mad at them, but I begged them to give me a shred of hope, and they can't even give me that. I'm sure he'll get up. He's got to wake up."
Haim Cohen, Avi's brother, went to Jerusalem to meet with doctors who treated former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. "His condition worsened yesterday, but we continue to believe he'll return to us."
