Maccabi Netanya released its coach Ton Caanen late Saturday night, less than 10 days after the Dutchman was appointed to the post.
Netanya did not offer any explanation for the decision. However, club owner Daniel Jammer and general manager Eyal Berkovic are thought to have dispensed with Caanen following media reports regarding his private life.
Internet site One published a report last week that Caanen had harassed the wife of Guy Azuri, his assistant during his spell with Betar Jerusalem last season.
Meanwhile Lumir Michailik, a defensive midfielder from Jammer's Slovak club Senec, will sign for Netanya. Jammer had received offers for the player from Torpedo Moscow and FC Basel.
