Zvi Sherf is the leading candidate to replace Valdas Chomicious as coach of Dynamo Moscow, according to a report published yesterday morning by the Russian sports daily Sport Express. Chomicious was fired by Dynamo yesterday after the club lost three of its opening four games in the Russian league.
The peripatetic Sherf, who has had spells in France, Poland and Greece as well as with several clubs in Israel, is expected to fly to Greece today to meet with Dynamo president Yevgeny Gomlenski. Dynamo, which is in the same group as Nahariya in the Europe League, plays Maroussi of Greece in Athens tonight.
Dynamo, which has a budget of some $4 million, made several big signings over the summer, including Bosnian international Kharis Muezenovich, the veteran Greek forward Nikolaos Ekonomou and Russian internationals Dmitri Domani and Nikloau Padius
