The regular half-year strategic dialogue talks between Israel and the United States open today in Tel Aviv with teams of officials from both countries' defense, foreign affairs, and intelligence communities meeting to discuss counter-terrorism and long-range missiles. Heading the Israeli side is Defense Ministry Director-General Amos Yaron and heading the American side's team is Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs Lincoln Bloomfield. The teams will hear briefings by research chiefs from both sides. Last week, Yaron convened IDF and defense ministry representatives in Europe for a review of the defense establihsment's relationship with the European Union.
