George Leekens, the coach of Dutch club Roda JC Kerkrade has denied his assistant, Rene Troust, permission to travel to see Maccabi Tel Aviv play Hapoel Petah Tikva, a game scheduled for Friday. Leekens said travel to the region, and Israel in particular, is dangerous. He and the Roda management decided against traveling immediately after hearing they were drawn against Maccabi. They said the Dutch government has a directive against travel to the region. Roda officials spoke to representatives from Chelsea, but were none too pleased to hear that the major English club was indeed intending to travel as planned for the October 18 match. Roda is bottom of the Dutch first division, and Leekens said that he expected to have a tough match against Maccabi, no matter where the game takes place.
