Tennis / Dudi Sela moves on to quarters with convincing win
By Rami HipshDudi Sela, the top-ranked player in the Challenger tournament in Ramat Hasharon, advanced yesterday to the quarterfinals with a convincing 6-3, 7-5 win over Australian Brydan Klein. He faces Benjamin Becker of Germany next. Harel Levy also advanced aft California native Prakash Amritraj dropped out of therir match.
Levy paired up with Noam Okun to advance to the semifinal with a surprising victory over the second-seeded American duo of Rajeev Ram and Bobby Reynolds 6-2, 6-2. Also in the doubles, Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich continued to enjoy their first chance to play together in months by advancing to the semis with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 win over Amir Hadad and Simon Stadler.
Shahar Peer advanced to the quarterfinals of the Estoril Open, after defeating Czech opponent Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-4, 6-1. Peer was trailing 4-0 in the first set before reeling off six straight games to take command of the match. She will next take on Slovakian Jarmila Groth.
